EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

The decline in educational opportunities, the need for healthcare and social services, and the hardships faced by displaced Afghans reveal the severe pressures affecting people’s lives. Internationally, wars and escalating security tensions continue to threaten civilians and undermine economic stability. Meanwhile, workers’ strikes, struggles for fair wages and the activities of communist and progressive parties reflect continuing efforts to defend social justice, workers’ rights and public services.

From a historical materialist perspective, understanding these developments requires examining their economic foundations, relations of power and the distribution of productive resources. Access to education, healthcare, employment, fair wages and workers’ rights remains essential to improving people’s lives.
