Statement of the New Standard-Bearers of the Democratic People’s Party of Afghanistan Published: 2026-10-08 Strong Condemnation of Pakistan’s Airstrikes on Afghan Territory and the Killing of Innocent Civilians With profound sorrow and deep concern, the New Standard-Bearers of the Democratic People’s Party of Afghanistan strongly condemn the recent bloody and criminal attack carried out by the armed forces of Pakistan against the provinces of Paktika and Nangarhar. These airstrikes, which were carried out last night, on 21 February 2026 (2 Hoot 1404), in border areas, resulted in the killing of at least 17 to 18 members of an innocent family in Behsud District of Nangarhar Province. Reports indicate that a large number of the victims were women and children, while the bodies of some of the victims remain buried under the rubble. So far, nine victims have been buried, while the bodies of another eight have not yet been recovered. This horrific crime, apparently carried out in response to certain security incidents inside Pakistan, once again demonstrates complete disregard for the lives of Afghan civilians and constitutes a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty. Targeting residential homes and civilian areas is a clear instance of war crimes and state terrorism and cannot be justified by claims of fighting armed groups. The people of Behsud and the border areas are now plunged into deep grief and mourning. Bereaved families, orphaned children, and survivors of this tragedy urgently require humanitarian, medical, and psychological assistance. We call upon international human rights organizations, the Red Crescent, humanitarian relief agencies, and all forces committed to humanitarian solidarity to come to the immediate assistance of these oppressed people. The New Standard-Bearers of the Democratic People’s Party of Afghanistan, while extending their condolences to the families of the victims and to the grieving people of Nangarhar and Paktika, emphasize the following: ● The immediate cessation of such acts of aggression and full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan. ● The provision of extensive assistance to the survivors and compensation for the damages inflicted. ● The necessity of constructive and diplomatic dialogue between the two neighboring countries instead of resorting to violence and aerial bombardment. ● The condemnation of Pakistan’s terrorist-supporting regime by the international community. The blood of the innocent victims of this attack will never be forgotten. Justice for the people of Afghanistan remains a lasting demand.
